Brainstem Cutoff

Information on the use of the brainstem cutoff slice option

The majority of datasets do not require this step. It is provided for the eventuality where tissue is this region is mis-classified.

Example Data

A set of 17 3D T1 weighted images from patients with MS were segmented both with and without a cutoff slice applied. SPM99 was used for segmentation. The table below shows the difference in ml between brain volumes measured with and without the axial cutoff.
